This guided photo tour in South Africa combines intense safari experiences with conscious photography and a genuine closeness to nature. Expect a thoughtful blend of wildlife observation, wildlife photography, and time for yourself—all within a small group of fellow photographers.

Whether you are just starting with photography or already have advanced skills: You will learn to master your camera confidently, work with light and perspective, and understand and directly apply principles of composition and visual language. A workshop on computer-based image editing is also included.

  • Welcome to South Africa! Your experts will warmly welcome you at Johannesburg Airport (OR Tambo International). After pickup, we will transfer you to your lodge on the edge of the Kruger National Park. Your adventure begins immediately upon arrival, as with some luck, we may spot our first wild animals along the way.

    After a relaxing welcome drink, we check into our beautiful rooms. There isn't much time to rest today, but that’s perfectly fine—after all, we can hardly wait for our first game drive! We return after sunset, filled with impressions, to a wonderful dinner and, hopefully, a few hours of restful sleep.

  • The day begins early on safari. Very early! Two game drives are on the agenda.

    During the safari, you will learn:

    • Fundamentals of wildlife photography

    • Practical tips for camera settings

    • Achieving correct exposure in natural light

    • Mastering perspective and composition

    • Understanding wildlife behavior

    Between game drives, we indulge in delicious meals and catch up on some sleep. Afterwards, perhaps a dip in the pool or a first review of the photos you’ve captured?

  • With every game drive, your eye for subjects grows sharper. You learn to anticipate movement and capture the perfect moment. This is exactly where the difference between "taking a photo" and "learning photography" emerges.

    After the morning game drive and a hearty brunch, a private driver will pick us up and transfer us to the Summerfield Rose Retreat & Spa.

    We will be warmly welcomed at this exquisite sanctuary. For two days, we will immerse ourselves in the tranquility, the stunning grounds, and the delicious cuisine.

  • Here, we dedicate our time to photo editing and/or the art of doing absolutely nothing.

     

    Photo Editing Workshop:

    • Selecting your best images

    • Understanding image impact

    • Targeted enhancements using editing software

    Beyond the workshop, you can indulge in a wide range of spa treatments (bookable optionally), explore the extensive lychee and macadamia farm along the secure 7km path, wander through the wonderful gardens, and much more.

  • We begin the morning at a relaxed pace, taking time to enjoy the calm before our next adventure. Soon, our private driver takes us into the world-famous Sabi Sands Game Reserve, home to some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife encounters. Our destination: the exclusive Little Bush Camp, a luxury safari lodge that feels like a dream. With its elegant design, attention to detail, and the warm hospitality of the hosts, it sets a new standard for indulgence in the African bush. After a delicious refreshment, it’s time to pack our camera gear and head out on our first game drive in Sabi Sands, where unforgettable wildlife photography opportunities await.

    We return full of impressions and incredible photos to a creative, flavorful dinner. The evening ends with the luxurious choice between a soak in the private whirlpool or slipping straight into bed, still surrounded by the sounds of the African night.

  • The days begin at dawn. We may not be fully rested, but by the first animal sighting, everyone is wide awake. Who will we encounter in the first rays of sunlight?

    By now, our photographer knows every participant and their equipment, allowing her to provide targeted tips during sightings to further develop each individual's skills.

    ​

    Twice daily, we head out on photo safaris, focusing specifically on:

    • Image composition

    • Lighting and mood

    • Assessing animal behavior

    • Developing your personal style

    Thanks to our small group size, you receive individual feedback—directly in the moment.

    Between game drives, we enjoy delicious, freshly prepared meals, the tranquility of this wonderful lodge, and simply let ourselves be pampered. There will surely be time to edit some standout images with support from our expert team.

  • And then, unfortunately, it arrives: the final game drive. Once more, we will soak up the sounds and scents of the bush, experiencing every sighting with special intensity.

    After a hearty brunch, we say our goodbyes and are transferred by our chauffeur to Skukuza. With memory cards full of beautiful images—and above all, with full hearts—we conclude our journey: "Safari Photo Tour South Africa: Wildlife Photography in Focus." You return home not just with photos, but with a completely new understanding of photography and nature.
